Mental health therapy, relationship counseling, assessment and letters for gender-affirming care, limpias or people and spaces
I have worked with transgender clients since 1998. I currently work with clients who are nonbinary, trans men, trans women most of whom are BIPOC. I offer assessments and letters for gender affirming care as pay-what-you-can and most who request that service were referred by previous transgender/nm/gnc clients who were satisfied with the services I provided them.
I have a lot of experience and a lot of ease working with clients of all genders and no gender. And still I am always learning. I make mistakes and when I do I self-correct without guilt and shame (which clients and friends have said was supportive to them). I seek consultation regularly and pay transgender friends and colleagues for their guidance.
The majority of my clients are queer. I have current clients who are queer, gay, lesbian, pansexual, bisexual, asexual, and a few who are heterosexual. Despite being queer myself and working in queer community since 1998 I am always learning.
Sexuality justice is important to me. I try to stay aware of the systemic familial and individual challenges clients are experiencing
I have done organizing work with Tribal communities in New Mexico for twenty years and also have Native American clients currently. I have done organizing work with Black communities in Albuquerque since 2004 and also have Black clients currently. I have worked with my own ethnic and racial community for my entire adult life in varying capacities and currently lead community ceremony of Mexica and New Mexican traditional ways and also have Latine clients currently. I am newer to working with asian clients only over the past couple of years and have done work to learn and better understand the lived experience of asian clients I am currently working with.
I utilize a decolonizing and cultural humility approach to all of the work I do. And in doing so I am continually growing through education, consultation, and my own personal therapy.
I work with many client's who experience a wide variety of physical and mental disabilities as well as clients who are neurodivergent. Some examples include autism, chronic pain, people who use wheelchairs and other supportive aids, ADHD, SPD, limitations in eye sight, complex PTSD and many other diverse abilities.
I have a lot of experience including lived experience with disabilities and disablity justice. I am learning but I have a long way to go. The learning curve can be very high for me with different disabilities and I am working on breaking down patterns of ableism that I have defaulted to.
